'Mane Nobiscum' is the long awaited new recording from the monastic brothers of the Taizé Community.
Recorded in the 12th century village church at Taizé, the brothers are joined by a choir of forty young people from ten countries performing music from the Taizé repertoire of the past few years along with new compositions, which had either never been recorded before or included on the previous 19 or so Taizé releases. Together they reflect the prayer of the Taizé Community and the thousands of young people who visit Taizé or who take part in the "Pilgrimage of Trust" in Europe and on other continents.
The Taizé Community is an ecumenical Christian monastic order in the town of Taizé in France. It is composed of a little over 100 brothers from some 30 countries who come from Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant traditions. Founded in 1940 by Brother Roger Schutz, the community, though Western European in origin, seeks to bring together the various Christian denominations by way of music and prayer from the Eastern Orthodox tradition, but sung in the many different languages that the Taizé Community represents.
